For the last three months, our Tillon Talks Webinars have been exploring the realities of scaling a business.
Growth is always the goal, but as complexity increases, leaders quickly discover that good intentions are no longer enough to maintain reliable execution.
Here is a look back at the journey so far, and a preview of our final session.
Webinar 1: Why Things Start Breaking
In our first session, Tillon MD Toby Bassford and Greg Moser (CEO, Jiminny) unpacked the predictable friction points scaling organisations hit, typically around 50, 120, and 300 people. They explored the critical journey a leader must undertake: shifting both their mindset and their operating mode to meet the changing requirements of the business at each distinct stage.
The conversation then moved from individual leadership to organisational design, highlighting how to transition smoothly and implement the right systems without falling into the trap of becoming overly bureaucratic (watch more here).
Webinar 2: Accountability is Not a Feeling
Next, Toby sat down with Paul Tassinari to tackle a frustration familiar to many executives: fuzzy accountability. Paul shared a candid moment of realisation when he recognised that the systems that had successfully brought his company to its current stage were no longer serving them. Objectives set with enthusiasm in Q1 had all but been abandoned by Q4.
Together, Paul and Toby then explored how to replace hope-based leadership with a true Leadership Operating System, the structural foundation required to translate good intentions into predictable and reliable execution (watch more here).
Webinar 3: Your Exec Team Isn't Really a Team
In our third instalment, Toby was joined by Jeremy Suddards (Chief Revenue Officer, Six Degrees) to discuss the hidden dynamics of the executive suite.
During the session, Toby introduced the Team Flywheel, a practical diagnostic tool for benchmarking team performance, navigating conflict, and identifying exactly where leaders need to direct their intentional focus.
Up Next: Your "Culture" Won't Save You
The final webinar in our series takes place on Wednesday, 17th June. Toby will be joined by former Fortune 500 Pharmaceutical Executive and the newest member of the Tillon Team, Terry ORegan. We will examine why culture becomes a blunt instrument as organisations grow, and look honestly at the limits of values, behaviours, and “how we show up” narratives. Terry and Toby will share actionable direction on how to design an operating rhythm where good work becomes the default, not the exception.
